Best storage solution for home:I have been using Synology DS210j for about 3 years growing volume from 500 GB to 1.5 TB.I was in need of expanding the volume, so I was waiting for their 4-bay soho series renewal.That's why I bought this DS413 as soon as it was available.
And it is really great! I like new design. And now I have 9 TB volume with 1-disk fault tolerance! (I put 4x3TB drives inside)This amount is more than enough for two macbook's time machine's backups, family photo&video archive, downloaded files... etc.But the main reason of buying Synology is their software: SHR - synology hybrid raid gives you 1-2 disk fault tolerance with ability to upgrade drives one by one without moving the data; their DynDNS service with heartbeat option alerts you when your storage gets disconnected from internet; CloudStation - your personal drobpox; Photo Station is nice to share photo and video with the family; Audio Station - all your music in the cloud; Media Server - DNLA to watch video stored in DS from TV menu; Surveillance Station - your IP-cameras hub; Package Center - install more software with a single click; iOS applications and push notifications. I'm using all these features but there is much more.For the past 3 years I had not a single problem with synology software - everything is working as described.
